Rememnbering our Veterans

Being a "wordless" Wednesday and Veterans' day, it is appropriate that I post the following image:

____________

Image Background:

The late James Blackwell, Pvt, U.S. Army, is the only confirmed African American Spanish-American War veteran known to have lived in Onslow County, North Carolina.

Until officially researched by myself, through Resurrection Mission, his legacy was only known to a few of his direct descendents.

Let us take a moment to ponder the social actions of Pvt. Blackwell's day and try to understand his reasons for serving a Country to protect certain Freedoms that he did not have the right to use for himself.

Semper Fi !
