Marine Corps. Me, being a Vet as well, never really concerned myself with any of it. I was even present when the Elders talked about the OLD Georgetown Cemetary...who know? Maybe because it was cold, I wasn't paying attention. Guess I really missed out.
Thank you for such meaningful words. Ever since I stopped my involvement with the "old Georgetown Cemetery," I have committed myself to research, preserve and promote Onslow County's "little known" histories.
The "unofficial" segregated baseball team from Richlands that, as the oral histories go, beat a National segregated baseball team from Florida, is a favorite one that I enjoy. Another is the commercial jet
that crash landed, with no injuries, in a crop field in Richlands, because it could not find the airport; after a three hour fly over of the area.
Here is what I am doing now to promote the protection of endangered cemeteries within Onslow County:

Again, thank you for your comments. Thank you, also, for your service to our Nation.
