Naval war hero and local legend receives official Recognition!
I wanted to let everyone to know that after I previously initiated requests in July and August, Beaufort (NC) Mayor Ann Carter and commissioners on September 11th declared a Proclamation for a "Captain Otway Burns Day." The date will be October 25th, 2006. This is his date of death. At this time I do not know if the town of Beaufort, or anyone else will be holding any formal ceremonies on this date. I will, however, let you know if and when they do.
I also want you to know that I will be holding another book signing at the Book Shelf Book store in Swansboro (NC). I will be signing my books at the store between 11am to 1pm on Friday October 13th. This is the day before the town's famous Mullet Festival. I am looking forward to this book signing because the book is currently selling briskly at the store.
If you have any questions in regards to the book signing you can call the store at 208 Main Street Swansboro NC and talk to Alison, the manager or you can contact me. Alison’s telephone number is 1-910-325-1200.
I have also attached an image of two direct descendents of Captain Otway Burns receiving the Governor's letter from Beaufort (NC) Mayor Ann Carter (blue Jacket). I plan to use the image on my various Internet sites and for news media usage.
